Fables Etcetera
"Fables Etcetera" translates the timeless tales of Aesop and La Fontaine into sculptural jewellery. Through these stories—among the earliest philosophical reflections on human nature—animals become mirrors of emotion, instinct, and behaviour. Gabrielle selected eighteen fables, embarking on an allegorical journey where spirituality and animality intertwine, transforming narrative into form, and story into miniature worlds of art. After careful observation of attitude and expression, each character, boldly scaled for jewellery is first sculpted in wax, then cast in bronze and plated in gold or silver, with selected pieces further adorned with semi-precious stones. Each story is realised in five editions, and for the first edition, every creation is presented within its own Wunderkammer — a framed, miniature universe that allows the piece to be admired and experienced as art, even when not worn. From Le Corbeau et le Renard to other animal hero’s, the works explore determination, ingenuity, and the pursuit of creative expression, inter-wining the line between fable and reality. Gabrielle’s bronze creations bring these timeless narratives to life with a playful yet refined elegance, embodying the distinctive vision that defines her artistic practice.
